| Mumbai on ‘Red Alert’ as Met department predicted more rainfall in the city and sorrounding areas over the next 2-3 days. “Areas such as Mumbai, south Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and west Vidarbha will get extremely heavy rainfall in the next 24 to 48 hours. It is a serious situation. We have issued necessary warnings to the departments concerned, including airports,” AK Srivastav, head of climate monitoring and analysis at IMD Pune said. As a precautionary measure, the Fadnavis government has advised people to stay indoors today. |

A railway official said a landslide due to heavy rain in the Kasara Ghats section washed away a portion of the tracks, leading to the derailment. Sunil Udasi, chief spokesperson of Central Railway , said, “I would like to reiterate that the driver did an excellent job of applying emergency brakes. As the train’s coaches were constructed with advanced LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) technology , they did not pile up on top of one another.” |

| The Reserve Bank of India drew up a second list of over 40 defaulters, classified as non-performing assets. Banks have been told to initiate proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code against these defaulters within four months if there is no resolution until then. The 12 names identified by RBI in the first list that was prepared in June included large stressed accounts with outstanding of over Rs 5,000 crore with total dues of over Rs 1.75 lakh crore. |
