Sex with minor wife will be considered as rape, Supreme Court said. The top court did not rule on ‘marital rape’, which is sexual intercourse forced upon a spouse no matter what their age. Before today’s SC ruling, there was an exception in Section 375 rape law provisions that protected a man who had sexual relations with his wife even if she was under 18, which is the age of consent. Anupam Kher became the new chairman of Film and Television Institute of India. Anupam Kher will replace Gajendra Chauhan, whose turbulent tenure ended in March this year. Anupam Kher is a recipient of two National Awards and is married to actress Kirron Kher, a BJP MP. “I feel deeply humbled and honoured to be apportioned as the Chairman of iconic FTII. I will perform my duties to the best of my abilities,” Anupam tweeted.
The CBI recorded Dera chief’s statement in forced castration case. A writ petition was filed by a Dera follower in 2012, demanding a CBI inquiry and compensation for his castration at the Dera in 2000. A CBI official had said the petitioner, Hansraj Chauhan, has alleged that around 400 male devotees belonging to many states including Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan were castrated at the Dera headquarters after its head falsely claimed that the “castration would lead to realisation of God through him”.
