IIT-Kanpur senate has suspended 22 2nd-year B.Tech students for ragging. The punishment followed the allegations by new students that they were forced to strip by seniors. They filed a mass complaint in August. The probe committee had found the charges to be true, and recommended the suspension of all 22 students. 16 students were suspended for three years, and six for a year.
The Navy has sacked a sailor for undergoing a sex change surgery. The Navy, which served the discharge letter on Manish Giri, said “he was administratively discharged from service by invoking the clause of ‘Service No Longer Required’ under the Navy Regulations” after the defence ministry’s approval.
