The difference between electors and projected population in the age group is most prominent in states like UP, Bihar, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, even as Kerala, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh and many smaller states are better off. To ensure that all young men and women about to turn 18 are aware of the need to enrol themselves as voters, the EC is also reaching out to future voters (15-17 years) through an interactive school engagement programme.

Pakistan turned down the request 18th time, saying Jadhav is no ordinary prisoner and that India is attempting to deny the fact that he is a spy. The rejection comes after India and Pakistan exchanged lists of prisoners in each other’s jails under the 2008 Agreement on Consular Access. Since Jadhav’s arrest last year, Pakistan has rejected every Indian request seeking consular access to him.
