| Karnataka is set to get its first Dalit deputy CM in G Parameshwara today evening when he takes oath along with HD Kumaraswamy as CM on the steps of Vidhana Soudha. Parameshwara has been KPCC president for eight years and is an MLA for the fourth term now. KR Ramesh Kumar, a six-term member of the assembly from Congress, will be the speaker. The deputy speaker’s post will go to JD(S). The announcement came yesterday after coalition partners JD(S) and Congress met to discuss the distribution of portfolios. |

The passengers will, however, be able to cancel ticket for only those flights that are at least four days away from departure. The Centre will seek comments from stakeholders on the charter and, after taking them into consideration, will issue the final rules by July. The rules will apply to all airlines and in turn on travel portals and agents, in cases of cancellation charges. |

| The Hafiz Saeed-led Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)’s student wing has developed a mobile handset meant exclusively for communication by LeT members with each other. After entering a particular chip, the handset automatically connects with the nearest mobile tower, irrespective of the telecom service provider, and calls made using this handset cannot be traced by intelligence agencies. Boys aged between 15 and 25 years are being recruited and radicalised by LeT for anti-India operations, Multan-based LeT terrorist Zaibullah has claimed. |
| Rohingya militants massacred Hindu villagers during last year’s uprising in Myanmar’s Rakhine, Amnesty International has said. The killings took place on August 25, 2017, the Amnesty report said, the same day that the Rohingya insurgents staged coordinated deadly raids on police posts that tipped the state into crisis. Myanmar’s military responded to the raids with harsh reprisals that forced some 7,00,000 Rohingya Muslims out of the mainly Buddhist country where they have faced persecution for years. |
