The NIA has put a Pakistani diplomat on its wanted list and has released his photo seeking information. The probe agency said that Amir Zubair Siddiqui was posted as visa counsellor in the Pakistani High Commission in Colombo and had conspired to launch 26/11-type attacks on US and Israeli consulates in India, and Army and Navy commands in south India. The NIA is preparing to send a request to Interpol seeking red corner notices against Siddiqui and 2 other Pakistani officers. Read

The BJP has announced its first list of candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections. The list of 72 candidates was made public following a meeting of BJP’s election committee at the party headquarters in Delhi. The party named BS Yeddyurappa its chief ministerial candidate, and set a target of winning 150 of the 224 assembly seats. Elections in Karnataka are to be held on May 12 and results will be out on May 15.
The Central Vigilance Commission had raised an alarm a year before Nirav Modi-Mehul Choksi scam broke, says its annual report. North Korea has told US that it is prepared to discuss denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. According to a US official, the discussion is expected to take place when North Korean leader Kim Jong Un meets US President Donald Trump. This is among the first direct communication between North Korea and US. The officials from the two countries have held secret contacts recently in which Pyongyang directly confirmed its willingness to hold the unprecedented summit.
Shooter Jitu Rai won gold in men’s 10m air pistol event today at 2018 Commonwealth Games. He took the top honours with a score of 235.1 and set a new Commonwealth Games record. Rai, a CWG gold medalist in 50m air pistol event four years ago in Glasgow, shot a total of 235.1 after qualifying for the final in the fifth position. Jitu Rai’s compatriot Om Mitharval won silver at the Belmont Shooting Centre on day five of the Gold Coast CWG.
