The Supreme Court has indicted Haryana’s previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda government for a Rs 1,500 crore land acquisition fraud. The apex court restored the scrapped acquisition of 688 acres of land in Gurgaon and asked the CBI to get to the bottom of the fiddle. The SC decision to revive the acquisition will deprive unscrupulous builders of the fruits of their corruption.

India continues to remain the world’s largest arms importer, accounting for 12% of the global imports in 2013-2017 timeframe. Arms imports by India increased by 24% between 2008-2012 and 2013-2017 periods, as per data on international arms transfers released by global think-tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
