The HRD ministry has directed IITs to prepare a separate merit lists for girls from next academic session. The direction has been issued to ensure that the number of girls on each IIT campus is 14%. To achieve this, the colleges will publish a new list if the common merit list does not ensure the specified number of girls to be admitted under the HRD ministry’s direction. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu will reach India today for a six-day visit. PM Narendra Modi will receive Netanyahu and his wife Sara, at the airport this afternoon. A false alarm warning of a ballistic missile headed for Hawaii triggered panic on Saturday. The warning led to a 40 minute long panic mode for the US Island with people abandoning their cars and preparing to flee their homes until officials said the cellphone alert was a mistake. The Hawaiian authorities have not been able to identify the cause. According to American attorney Scott Saiki, someone pushed the wrong button. According to the White House the episode was “purely a state exercise.”
Five wrestlers were killed after an MUV rammed a tractor in Maharashtra’s Sangli district. According to the police, the accident took place when the state-level wrestlers were returning from Aundh from Satara district after participating in a wrestling competition. Identified as Shubham Gharage, Akash Desai, Vijay Patil, Sourabh Mane and Avinash Gaikwad, the wrestlers aged around 17-18 years and had recently participated in various state-level championships. Seven other were also injured in the accident.

A day after the press conference by four senior SC judges &mdash; Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurien Joseph, a debate has started on possibility of the government using the tumult to seek clarity on whether the recommendations of a badly divided Collegium on appointment of judges of the <a href=”https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/sc-rift-may-spur-government-to-contest-judges-select-judges-system/articleshow/62491916.cms”>Supreme Court</a> and high courts is obligatory.
