| Interpol has turned down NIA’s request for a red corner notice against controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. The plea was rejected on the ground that no chargesheet was filed against Naik at the time of submission of the request. NIA, however, was quick to clarify on Saturday that the ground was merely a “technical” one, as the chargesheet was filed subsequently on October 26, 2017, “a fact that Interpol did not take cognisance of”. |
| UIDAI has prohibited Bharti Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank from conducting e-verification (eKYC) for existing and new customers. The unprecedented measure comes after allegations that the telecom major had surreptitiously on-boarded customers to its bank while carrying out their Aadhaar verification. The move will mean that any new customer that comes to Airtel, or its payments bank, will not be able to have a fast-track and paperless biometric authentication through Aadhaar. |

| Former anchor of India’s Most Wanted television series, Suhaib Ilyasi was convicted by a Delhi court of murdering his wife. IIyasi was arrested in March 2000 after his wife was rushed to a hospital from their east Delhi house with fatal stab wounds. During interrogation, Ilyasi claimed that his wife had stabbed herself during a heated argument with him.
