| EC has rubbished reports of EVM tampering via Bluetooth during first phase of Gujarat elections 2017. Former state Congress president Arjun Modhwadia had claimed the EVMs were connected with external devices like mobile phones through Bluetooth at three polling booths in a Muslim-dominated area of the town. “The device which the complainant’s mobile phone detected after putting the Bluetooth on was not an EVM, but a mobile phone carried by a polling agent,” EC said. |

As per the survey, Nearly 37% of the 34,696 respondents felt corruption had increased, while 14% said it had gone down. Around 45% felt the situation was the same as before. | ED has seized mutual funds “controlled” by former IPL boss Chirayu Amin in the Panama Papers case. ED said it seized mutual funds of Whitefield Chemtech Private Limited, “which is controlled by Amin and his family”, under section 37A of the Foreign Exchange Management Act. The names of Amin and his family members had figured in the Panama Papers case with respect to their stakes/interests in the firm in the British Virgin Islands. |
