Pakistan has allowed the wife and mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet him on December 25. Jadhav, 47, has been allowed to meet his wife and mother on December 25 and a staff member from the Indian high commission will also be present during the meeting, said Pakistan’s foreign office spokesperson Mohammad Faisal. Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court in April on charges of espionage and terrorism. Read

The government has extended the deadline for mandatory linking of PAN with Aadhaar by three months to March 31, 2018. This is the third extension given by the government to individuals to link the Permanent Account Number (PAN) with the biometric ID. “It has come to notice that some of the taxpayers have not yet completed the linking of PAN with Aadhaar. Therefore, to facilitate the process of linking, it has been decided to further extend the time for linking of Aadhaar with PAN till March 31, 2018,” the finance ministry said.
Mani Shankar Aiyar has said that he is ready for any punishment if Congress suffers in Gujarat polls due to his comments. A day after being suspended from the Congress, Aiyar said the Congress party had given him a lot and there was no future for India without the party. “Aur agar party ko election mein kuchh bhi nuksan hota hai, to jo bhi uchit dand Congress party dena chahe wo de sakte hain (And if the Congress suffers any damage in the polls due to my comments, then I will accept whatever punishment the party deems fit),” he said.

Elite export control regime Wassenaar Arrangement (WA) today decided to admit India as its new member. India’s entry into the export control regime would enhance its credentials in the field of non-proliferation despite not being a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The decision was taken at the two-day plenary meeting of the grouping in Vienna. The WA membership is also expected to build up a strong case for India’s entry into the 48-member Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
The Enforcement Directorate has attached land owned by Lalu Prasad’s family in Patna in connection with the Railways tender case. The 3-acre plot worth Rs 45 crore, was allegedly transferred to Lalu’s family as quid pro quo under a railway tender scam in 2005, when the RJD chief was railways minister. The development comes days after the agency grilled Lalu Prasad’s wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi for over six hours.
