Kashmiri footballer Majid Irshad Khan who joined LeT recently, has surrendered before security forces. Irshad walked into a security camp in south Kashmir last night and surrendered with his arms and ammunition. Addressing a joint press conference, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Munir Khan and Major General BS Raju lauded Majid’s decision to quit the terror outfit and said that he will be able to return to normal life very soon.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley said Moody’s upgradation is a ‘belated recognition’ of the positive steps taken in India in the last few years. “The fact that a series of steps including demonetisation were taken, which are now taking the Indian economy to formalisation and digitisation, is something which is now being universally acknowledged,” he said.
UPA government had sat over the proposed procurement of Rafale aircraft for 10 years, said defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman. “The decision to buy 36 Rafales was taken to address the urgent need of the IAF (Indian Air Force) because the UPA government did not pay any attention to defence preparedness of the armed forces,” the defence minister said. Sitharaman also called the bickering against the deal as “disservice” to the armed forces.

The BJP released its first list of candidates for the Gujarat elections, to be held in two phases on December 9 and 14. The party has named Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani as its candidate from Rajkot West.
