As Sushma Swaraj met Saarc foreign ministers in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, India’s disinterest in the summit was evident, which has resulted in a downgrading of the institution where India plays the lead role. | China refused to join Pakistan over Kashmir issue saying matter should be resolved only by India and Pak. The remark is seen as a major snub from its “all-weather ally” after Pakistan managed to raise the issue at a recent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. | The CBI has taken over the probe into the Gurugram’s Ryan school murder case. After receiving a formal notification from the Central government, the CBI registered an FIR in the matter on Friday. | Taking a stern view of the ragging incident at IIT Kanpur, its senate has suspended 22 students. Senate (the apex decision making body of IIT Kanpur) has decided to place all 22 accused students under suspension till next senate meeting takes place (scheduled in November). The ragging incident dates back to August 19 and 20 (2017), the freshers were made to do formidable tasks, were abused and bullied. Some of the freshers had even complained that they were forced to strip by their seniors which had left them embarrassed and humiliated. |
