Nandan Nilekani is set to return as Infosys’s non-executive chairman. Nilekani will come for a predetermined period with the aim of achieving a bunch of predetermined goals, mainly identifying the next CEO. Nilekani’s arrival will also mean that the board will have to be reconstituted.
Saudi Arabia’s revised job scheme favouring locals will likely hit the Indians hard. From September 2017, only a handful of organisations with high grades – based on number of Saudi nationals employed by them and other criteria – will be able to apply for new block visas for migrant employees. The revised Nitaqat scheme will cover private companies with six or more employees (as opposed to current criteria of 10 or more). “Others can obtain visas for expat employees only through a transfer of sponsorship,” said an immigration alert from EY.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and BSP supremo Mayawati will not attend the RJD’s ‘BJP bhagao, desh bachao’ rally. Confirming their absence, RJD president Lalu Prasad said, “I spoke to Mayawatiji. She will send BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra while Sonia Gandhi will send senior Congress functionary Ghulam Nabi Azad and party general secretary C P Joshi to the rally.” The rally, which will take place in Patna on Sunday, is being seen as an attempt to forge a larger alliance of like-minded opposition parties to take on BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
