The National Investigation Agency has shortlisted 14 properties worth Rs 100-150 crore, allegedly owned by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The properties include educational institutions, residences and agricultural lands in Kashmir and flats in Delhi. At the top of the list is a seven-acre land which houses a Unique Public School worth Rs 30 crore, at Dooru village in Sopore, sources said. The NIA is probing seven Hurriyat separatists over accusations of terror financing in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Isro will sign an MoU with CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (NPL) today for developing an indigenous GPS. The system, named as Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC), is independent from the US clock system. The move will help the desi GPS to get formally synchronized with the Indian Standard Time (IST), which is being maintained by the Delhi-based NPL. The Centre told the Rajya Sabha yesterday that over 37% of schools in India have no electricity connections. Jharkhand is at the bottom with just 19% schools in the state having access to electricity. Some other states with poor access to electricity are Assam (25%) and Meghalaya (28.54%). The national capital along with Chandigarh, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry top the list with 100% schools having electricity connection.
Sushma Swaraj yesterday slammed Rahul Gandhi for meeting Chinese envoy Luo Zhaohui. The external affairs minister asked how “a leader of the largest opposition party deemed it necessary to get his facts (on the border row) from the Chinese rather than from the govt?” In reply, Congress said that it was quite normal for ambassadors to meet political leaders.
