India recorded its biggest overseas win, defeating Sri Lanka by 304 runs on day 4 of the Galle Test. For Sri Lanka, it was their biggest defeat (in terms of runs), surpassing their 301-run loss against Pakistan in 1994. “We are an experienced team now, we played good cricket. All bases were covered and I’m really happy with the way things went in this Test,” captain Virat Kohli said.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will become the interim prime minister of Pakistan for 45 days. A group of US senators sought enhanced cooperation with India in Afghanistan, a move that could annoy Pakistan. The lawmakers have introduced a legislative amendment to the National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA) – 2018 in the Senate to support their demand. The amendment seeks increasing India’s role in assisting the Afghan security forces through logistics support, threat analysis, intelligence, materiel, and maintenance support.
