Rain is playing spoilsport at the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash in the ICC Champions Trophy. India were off to a fine start, thanks to a solid 136 runs opening stand between Dhawan and Sharma. 12 people have been arrested in connection with yesterday’s terrorist attack in London that killed 7 people. UK PM Theresa May has called for a beefed up response to terror, after the third terrorist attack in the country in as many months. UK’s parliamentary elections due for June 8 will be held as scheduled, and campaigning will resume Monday after being suspended in wake of Saturday’s attack.
The NIA today carried out fresh raids across Jammu and Kashmir in a case involving terror funding. The raids against Hurriyat leaders were carried out at 4 locations in Srinagar and one in Jammu. Houses of two close aides of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani were raided. Foreign currency of Pakistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia was recovered during search, ANI reported.

Indian Army is all set to open up combat positions for women. Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat said initially women will be recruited for positions in military police. Currently women are allowed in a number of select areas including in medical, legal, educational, signals and engineering wings of the Army.
The government has initiated the process for appointing 44 high court judges. It had earlier returned their names to the Supreme Court collegium for reconsideration on two occasions. 29 candidates are from the Allahabad High Court, two are from Karnataka, seven from Calcutta and six from the Madras high courts, sources said.
