India demanded immediate suspension of Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence at the ICJ. India expressed fears that Pakistan could execute Jadhav even before the hearing at the International Court of Justice was over. New Delhi’s forceful submission was made as the ICJ began hearing the case of the 46-year-old former Navy officer who was arrested on March 3 last year and sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and subversive activities. Following India’s argument, Pakistan also presented its case at the ICJ.

Cybersecurity experts warned of a wider impact due to the WannaCry ransomware worm. Various businesses in the Asian region reported some disruptions from the ransomware worm even today. The ransomware that has locked up more than 200,000 computers in more than 150 countries has been mainly spread by e-mail, hitting factories, hospitals, shops and schools worldwide. Chinese state media said more than 29,000 institutions across China have been infected by the global”ransomware” cyberattack.
Will come up with a new law if triple talaq is held invalid, government told the Supreme Court. “If the practice of instant divorce (triple talaq) is struck down by the court, then Centre will bring a law to regulate marriage and divorce among the Muslim community,” Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told a five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar. Rohatgi’s submission came when the court asked him what are the remedies for a Muslim man to come out of a marriage if such practices are struck down.

The Reserve Bank issued an advisory asking taxpayers to pay their dues well on time. In a statement, the central bank said it is observed that the rush for remitting income tax dues through the RBI has been far too heavy towards the end of June every year. Consequently, the people are required to wait in queues for long periods unnecessarily, the apex bank said. The due date for first installment of advance tax for the assessment year 2018-19 is June 15. The due date for filing return in respect of securities transaction tax for the financial year 2016-17 is June 30.
The Indian women’s cricket team breached the 300-run mark in the ODIs for the first time. The team scored 358 for three in match eight of the Women’s Quadrangular series at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom against Ireland women. The base for this record score was setup by openers Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut who combined for a women’s world record of 320-run stand for the opening wicket with Sharma scoring 188* and Raut scoring 109. The partnership is the first 300 plus stand in Women’s ODIs. India have so far won all three of their matches in the series.
