6 people are now confirmed dead in the fire that engulfed a residential highrise in London. Fire was reported from the 24-storey Grenfel Tower in west London soon after 1 am on Wednesday. The ED has filed its first chargesheet against Vijay Mallya and others in the IDBI-KFA bank loan case. Officials said the agency has detailed out how funds of about Rs 400 cr were moved abroad in alleged violation of rules. Investigations have found that Kingfisher Airlines along with IDBI bank officials “criminally conspired to obtain funds” despite the company’s non-compliance of corporate credit policy.
Fake currency detection in the country’s banking channels have hit an all time high in the last eight years. The number of ‘counterfeit currency reports’ increased from a mere 8,580 in 2007-08 to 3,53,837 in 2014-15, a government report said. All banks, either public sector, private or foreign banks in the country, are mandated to report such instances to the Financial Intelligence Unit.

A BJP panel will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday for a discussion on presidential candidate. The Opposition has not yet shortlisted its candidate, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, after meeting all 10 members of the opposition sub-group formed for this purpose, keeping hopes afloat of a consensus candidate.
