A tourist was killed and two others were injured in a stone pelting incident on Srinagar-Gulmarg highway. The 22-year-old tourist from Chennai and two of his family members had reached Srinagar on Monday. They were on their way to Gulmarg when a group of stone pelters attacked their vehicle along with nearly half a dozen vehicles. The stone-pelters were protesting against the killing of five Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in an encounter.​ The attack on the tourists has come five days after tourists were attacked by stone-pelters in south Kashmir.Read

BJP will win Karnataka and have 50% vote share in India by 2019, BJP chief Amit Shah has said. The food regulating body wants packaged food labels to display if they contain GM ingredients. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) also suggests mandatory declaration by packaged food manufacturers about nutritional information such as calories, total fat, trans fat, sugar and salt per serve on the front of the pack.

BSP chief Mayawati said her party’s alliance with Samajwadi Party was on for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She added that a formal announcement would be made once the seat-sharing arrangement was finalised. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the combined vote share of SP and BSP was 41.8% in Uttar Pradesh. The Supreme Court will today hear the plea jointly filed by Congress Rajya Sabha MPs on CJI’s impeachment. The petition filed by Congress MPs on Monday sought an urgent hearing over Chief Justice of India Justice Dipak Misra&rsquo;s impeachment and challenged the rejection of the <a href=”https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/sc-bench-to-hear-plea-against-venkaiah-naidus-nixing-of-bid-to-impeach-cji-dipak-misra/articleshow/64070996.cms”>impeachment </a>motion by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Naidu had said the impeachment motion did not meet the requirement of &ldquo;proved misconduct&rdquo; and lacked evidence of wrongdoing. The 5-judge bench which will hear this petition includes none of the senior judges who held the unprecedented press conference on January 12.
