An IITian from Mumbai has given up his job and family to attain Jainism’s ‘diksha’ &lsquo;Diksha&rsquo;&rsquo; is preparation to become an ascetic. The government’s push is making oil companies control price revisions, despite rising global fuel rates. According to sources, the oil and petroleum ministry passed instructions for moderation in price revision to fuel retailers in September after pump prices started rising from August 2017.
The Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra has set up a 5-judge Constitution bench to hear important cases. The 5-judge bench does not include the four judges who held a press conference making accusations against the CJI. From January 17, this 5-judge bench, comprising CJI Dipak Misra and others, will hear important cases such as those challenging the Constitutional validity of the Aadhaar Act and its 2013 judgment re-criminalising gay sex between consenting adults.
Moshe Holtzberg, the baby who survived 26/11, is returning to Mumbai today after 10 years. Moshe was one of the three who survived when terrorists attacked Nariman House, the seat of the Jewish Chabad, and held six Israelis hostage. Moshe’s parents were also killed during the attack. For his visit, more than a 100 Israeli and Indian security personnel will be deployed along with city police.
An Indigo Goa-Hyderabad flight left 14 passengers behind as it departed before its scheduled time. The passengers, who had boarding passes, were left behind at Goa airport as the flight departed before its scheduled time without making any announcement. However, the airlines refuted the claim of the passengers and said that several announcements were made calling the passengers to report at the gate.
