Terrorists in J&K shot dead PDP’s Pulwama district chief Abdul Ghani Dar. The incident occured within hours of J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the unrest in the Valley. The terrorists, armed with assault rifles, shot Ghani while he was on a tour of the violence-torn area. Dar’s was the second targeted political killing in south Kashmir in a week. On April 17, militants had killed a former public prosecutor affiliated with the National Conference, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, in Shopian district.

32 education boards, including CBSE, agreed to do away with spiking of marks through ‘moderation’. Under the moderation policy, examinees are awarded up to 15 per cent extra marks in certain papers if the questions are deemed to have been difficult.
