DGCA is likely to ground over 130 Air India pilots and 430 cabin crew members. The action is being considered after the staff members allegedly skipped the mandatory pre- and post-flight alcohol tests on a regular basis. India and China have agreed to ensure contact between defence personnel to avoid recurrence of a Doklam-like situation. This came after an hour-long meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. The two leaders agreed to make India-China relations a factor of civility, foreign secretary S Jaishankar told the media.
Operation of bank accounts of over 2 lakh companies have been restricted, the finance ministry said. These companies were ‘struck off’ from the Register of Companies for not filing returns and not completing other formalities related to compliance. The action comes after the companies failed to respond to show cause notices. The step maybe seen as a continuation of the crackdown on shell companies which are allegedly used as conduits for illicit fund flows and tax evasion.

111 of 134 MLAs of Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK today attended a legislators’ meet convened by CM Palaniswami.
