PM Modi called for efforts to mitigate terror at the ASEAN-India Summit in Manila. India has suffered from terrorism, PM Modi said as he called for joint efforts to mitigate the menace. Addressing leaders of the ASEAN member states in Manila, he said India will continue its support to ASEAN for a rules-based security architecture for the region. “We have suffered due to the menace of terror. The time has come for us to unite and think about mitigating terrorism,” Modi said at the ASEAN-India Summit. Read

The relationship between India and US will get stronger under Trump, White House said. India is a natural ally of the US due to their shared commitment to democracy and counter-terrorism, according to a senior White House official who said the bilateral relationship is going to get stronger and better under the Trump administration. Monday’s meeting was the second between the two leaders since they met at the White House in June.
The Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking SIT probe into bribery charges against judges. The apex court, however, made sure to say that no one, not even judges, are above law. The case is to do with the CBI’s FIR which named several persons, including former Orissa High Court judge as the accused in an alleged corruption case. It was alleged that the judge, along with others, assured some medical colleges of favourable orders from the top court.

The LIC announced launch of a cancer cover as health insurance policy. The ‘Cancer Cover’ policy, which can be taken by those in the age group of 20 to 65, will be a non-linked plan with yearly and half-yearly premium paying options, the company said. Fixed benefits would be paid in case the life assured was diagnosed with any specified early and/or major stage cancer during the policy term subject to terms and conditions.
By opposing ‘Hindutva’, opposition is objecting to development, Adityanath said.
