PM Modi has said that BJP will make 1+1 equal to 11 to take Gujarat to new heights if they are voted back to power. In an emotional appeal to voters, PM Modi said that the governments of India and Gujarat working together will become 1+1 equal to 11 and not 2. PM also invoked Gujarati pride and asked the voters to give a fitting reply to the opposition attacks against him. He urged the people to vote in large numbers on December 14. Read more

British Airways Mumbai-London flyers are stuck in Baku since Monday night. The aircraft was diverted to Azerbaijan’s Baku on Monday night developing a snag. Retail inflation has surged to 15-month high of 4.88% on rising food price, thereby breaching the RBI target. Retail inflation for November stood at 4.88 per cent in comparison to 3.63 per cent during the corresponding period last year. Up from 3.58 per cent in October, inflation is now on a multi-month high. Rise in inflation is due to rising food prices as the food inflation stood at 4.42 per cent, compared to 1.90 per cent in the month of October.

Centre has agreed to set up special courts to deal with criminal cases against MPs, MLAs. The Centre told the SC today that it will start with 12 such special courts, and added that it has allotted Rs 7.80 crore for the purpose. In 2014, as many as 1,581 lawmakers were facing prosecution in a mind-boggling 13,500 cases. On average, 4,200 cases are handled by each of the 17,000 subordinate courts.
UIDAI has said that December 31 is the deadline for linking bank accounts with Aadhaar. UIDAI also said that accounts which are not linked will be temporarily deactivated. For now, the deadline for linking bank accounts, mutual fund folios and insurance policies with Aadhaar is December 31, 2017 and for cellphones, it is February 6, 2018.
