A seamless, virtual fence with sensors is being planned along the India-Pakistan border. A pilot project for deployment of Comprehensive Integrated Border Management Solution, with different types of sensors, radars and night vision cameras etc has been taken up in two stretches in the Jammu sector. The UP Shia Central Waqf Board is for building a mosque some distance from the Ramjanambhoomi site in Ayodhya. In an affidavit before the Supreme Court, the Board said the Babri Masjid was its property and therefore it was the only body entitled to negotiate an amicable settlement of the Ayodhya dispute. The Allahabad HC in a verdict had divided the land equally between ‘Ram Lalla,’ the Nirmohi Akhara and the Sunni Waqf Board.
The Reserve Bank has asked banks to ensure that customers’ lockers remain safe. Corporate affairs minister Arun Jaitley told Parliament, there is no specific circular by the Department of Financial Services asking banks to compensate customers for theft of articles from lockers. Banks are also being probed by Competition Commission of India for alleged cartelisation in providing locker services to their customers.

Sebi has directed stock exchanges to initiate action against 331 suspected shell companies. Scrips of these listed companies will not be available for trading this month. These entities would be subject to independent or forensic audit if required, and may also be delisted. The action saw the BSE Sensex tank 259.48 points on Tuesday, as bank stocks took a hit.
West Bengal has topped in incidents of domestic violence against women during 2016. An initial report by the National Crime Records Bureau said, over 34,205 cases of crime against women were reported from the state during 2016, 59% of which were cases of domestic violence. Experts claim, rise in awareness has encouraged women to report violence against them.
