1,600 personnel die every year without India going to war |
Without going to war, India loses around 1,600 military personnel every year. And the single biggest killers are road accidents and suicides, much more than counter-insurgency operations or firing duels with Pakistan along the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir. |

No recompense for many road mishap victims’ kin |
Expressing distress that there’s one death every three minutes in road accidents in India, but legal heirs of only half of the victims receive compensation, the Supreme Court has issued a slew of directions to states to set up a road safety policy as well as dedicated safety funds. |

Samuel Ward struck twice as England beat India 3-2 to record their first win of the HWL Final on Saturday. England had a lacklustre game vs Germany in their HWL opener, losing 0-2 whereas India, despite being wasteful, held Australia to a 1-1 draw. India continued to be wasteful but England improved. |
