The Trump administration yesterday proposed that India and the US work together in the Indo-Pacific region to counter China. In a stunning new dynamic unveiled by secretary of state Rex Tillerson, Trump’s America ditched the kid glove treatment of China as they sought to woo New Delhi to counter Beijing’s growing assertiveness in the region. Tillerson’s remarks came hours after Trump publicly threw his support behind India by hosting a Diwali event at the White House.

The Supreme Court has made it mandatory for the railways to keep oxygen cylinders in all trains. The move will ensure that the life-saving gas is provided to travellers suffering from respiratory problems in case of emergency. The apex court has also directed the railways to take assistance of doctors from AIIMS to explore ways to provide medical treatment to travellers if they take ill.
Former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal is on the BJP’s final list for the Himachal Pradesh elections. The BJP released its final list of candidates for all the 68 seats in the state yesterday.
