Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted mistakes on user data secrecy and has vowed to take steps to fix it. Zuckerberg said that the social media giant has a “responsibility” to protect its users’ data and if it fails, “we don’t deserve to serve you (users)”. Zuckerberg broke his silence in a Facebook post over the alleged privacy scandal that hit the social media giant. The Supreme Court has questioned the Centre about its decision to link Aadhaar with pensions. The apex court said that pension is not a subsidy but an entitlement of a person for years of service he or she has rendered to the government in the discharge of official duties. The court further questioned whether the Centre was going to deny pension, a rightful entitlement, just for want of Aadhaar. To this, the attorney general replied that Aadhaar was instrumental in eliminating many bogus pensioners drawing post-retirement benefits.
The Union Cabinet has approved ‘Modicare’ health insurance which will target nearly 11 crore poor families. The scheme, which is likely to start by October will be availed all across the country. There will be no cap on family size and age while payments will be on package rates. The scheme, announced in the Budget earlier this year, will provide Rs 5 lakh insurance cover per family and is intended to be extended over time into a universal programme for all citizens.

In three years, only 3 lakh of the 40.6 lakh houses promised under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were constructed. The data emerged on the websites of the urban affairs and rural development ministries which revealed that as on March 5, the ministry had considered 8,341 projects under PMAY involving 40.6 lakh houses. In the rural version of the housing scheme, only 30%, or 28.8 lakh houses, have been completed against the 95.4 lakh targeted by the rural development ministry in 15 months since the plan was launched.
