Vinod Khanna, veteran actor and a Member of Parliament, died of cancer today. He was 70. The Bollywood heartthrob, who is best known for his roles in films such as “Amar Akbar Anthony,” “Qurbaani” and “Insaaf”, was suffering from bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife, Kavita Khanna, and four children – Rahul, Akshaye, Sakshi, and Shraddha.

Udaipur boy Kalpit Veerval has topped the IIT JEE-Main with a perfect 360 score. The results of IIT JEE-Main were declared today and Kalpit emerged as the first student in the history to score 360 out of 360. The 17-year-old student did not miss a single class throughout the year. He now wishes to pursue computer science from IIT-Mumbai.
PM Narendra Modi today flagged off the low-cost regional connectivity scheme UDAN from Shimla. The Prime Minister inaugurated the maiden Shimla-New Delhi flight under UDAN (‘Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik’), a scheme that aims to boost regional connectivity through a market-based mechanism. During the inauguration, Modi said that UDAN would enable the “common man” to fly.

India has sought from Pakistan a certificate on the health condition of Kulbhushan Jadhav. The ministry of external affairs said that the well being and state of Jadhav’s health is a “matter of great concern” to India as the former Indian Navy officer has been in Pakistan’s custody for more than a year on charges of espionage.
The SC today warned Subrata Roy that he may be sent to jail again if he does not pay Rs 1,500 crore by June 15. The Sahara chief was told by the apex court that he has to frequently make the payment as per the roadmap approved by the court or face further imprisonment. Roy has to repay thousands of crores to investors that were collected through a savings deposit scheme that was declared illegal by SEBI.
