Some rejig of GST rates is required to reduce burden on small and medium businesses, the revenue secretary said. Hashmukh Adhia said GST, that amalgamates more than a dozen central and state levies will take about a year to stabilise. The overhauling would require calculations by the fitment committee to decide which items need a rationalisation of rate, Adhia said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated a ‘roll-on-roll-off’ ferry service between Ghogha and Dahej in Gujarat. The 31 km ferry journey will take just one hour, against the 8 hours, 360 km journey by road. Speaking on the occasion, PM stressed on the importance of developing waterways for transportation. He pointed out that carrying goods through waterways can be cheaper than by road or rail.
