Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping during an informal summit on April 27-28. The announcement was made at a joint statement by foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, after bilateral talks between the two in Beijing. At the meeting, to be held in China’s Wuhan, the leaders are expected to work towards a new paradigm for bilateral ties bogged down with a host of disputes and differences. Read

At least 14 suspected Maoists were gunned down in an encounter in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district today. The encounter took place in the Boriya forest within the limits of Tadgaon police station in Bhamragarh tehsil. Heavy exchange of fire ensued as the Maoists were trying to wriggle out of the police cordon. Sources claimed that forces trapped the ultras from all sides, leaving them with no room to flee.
Congress may move court if the Rajya Sabha chairman rejects its impeachment notice against CJI Misra. If chairman Naidu did not find merit in the notice for the impeachment, the decision could call for a judicial review, party sources said. Judges who faced impeachment had earlier stepped aside from judicial work and the Chief Justice should do the same, said a party leader.

A gunman shot dead three people at a restaurant on the outskirts of Nashville in the US state of Tennessee. At least four others received injuries. Local media citing police reported the gunman was armed with an AR-15 assault rifle– a weapon commonly used by mass shooters in the US. “A patron wrestled away the gunman’s rifle. He was nude and fled on foot,” the police said in a statement.
