The AIADMK factions led by K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam finally merged today after months of negotiations. Both the camps have agreed to a power sharing arrangement under which K Palaniswami will stay on as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and O Panneerselvam will be his deputy. Panneerselvam will also be the AIADMK coordinator while Palaniswami will be the co-coordinator of the ruling party.

The Supreme Court today granted bail to Lieutenant Colonel Purohit in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Last week, Purohit had told the apex court that he has been caught in the “political crossfire” and was languishing in jail for nine years. Purohit had moved the apex court challenging the Bombay High Court’s order dismissing his bail plea.
Rajnath Singh said that a solution to the ‘deadlock’ at Doklam between India and China would be found ‘very soon’. “I’m confident that China, on its part, will make a positive move and a resolution (to the dispute) will be found,” the home minister said. The Union minister further said that “in life, one can change friends, but one can’t change neighbours” and therefore good relations with them is very important.

India has imposed anti-dumping duty on tempered glass from China to protect its domestic industry. Investigations revealed that the tempered glass was being imported from China below its associated normal cost. The probe concluded that the domestic industry suffered material injury caused by the dumping of such imported goods.
The State Bank of India today announced processing fee waiver of up to 100% on various loans. The country’s largest lender said that it will waive up to 100% processing fee on car loans, gold loans and personal loans. This is part of a ‘festival bonanza‘ programme announced by the bank.
