A special NIA court today acquitted all five accused in Mecca Masjid blast. A total of 10 persons allegedly belonging to right-wing organisations were named as the accused in the case. But only five of them, Lokesh Sharma, Swami Aseemanand alias Naba Kumar Sarkar, Devendra Gupta, Bharat Mohanlal Rateshwar alias Bharat Bhai and Rajendra Chowdhary were arrested in the case. Read.

Kathua district court has directed that chargesheet copies be provided to all the accused in the Kathua gangrape. The court set the next hearing date as April 28. All the accused were brought to court today. The accused’s lawyer said they were “ready” for the narco tests. The SC also asked the state government to provide security to the family and lawyer of the eight-year-old who was raped and murdered in Kathua in January.

BJP today released its second list of 82 candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections. On April 8, the BJP had announced the first list of 72 candidates who will contest the high stakes Karnataka assembly polls. The Congress, too, had announced its first list of 218 candidates on Sunday. The saffron party is targeting 150 out of 224 assembly seats.
China has stepped up its campaign against foreign espionage with a website in Mandarin and English. The website, www.12339.gov.cn, launched by the Ministry of National Security also urges anyone to report attempts by Chinese nationals or foreigners to bribe state or military officials, instigate armed riots or incite ethnic separatism. The website did not offer details on the rewards.
