The Supreme Court said it will reconsider its 2013 decision criminalising gay sexual relations. The court also sought the Centre’s response to a writ petition filed by five LGBTQ community members, who said they live in fear of police because of their natural sexual orientation and preferences. In December 2013, the SC had set aside the Delhi High Court’s 2009 verdict decriminalising homosexuality.
Indian Haj pilgrims may soon be able to travel to Saudi Arabia via sea route. Officials from both the countries will discuss all the necessary formalities and technicalities so that Haj pilgrimage through sea route can be started in the coming years,” union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said. The annual Haj agreement between India and Saudi Arabia has been signed in Mecca.
