| The CPM has moved the Supreme Court against the Centre’s move to pitch electoral bonds. CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said they were <a href=”https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/cpm-moves-apex-court-against-electoral-bonds/articleshow/62748665.cms”>left with no choice</a> but to move the top court. “The no disclosure clause in electoral bonds will create opacity in funding and is bad for democracy,” he said. The Election Commission, too, initially had reservations about them. The NDA claims electoral bonds will clean up political funding.<br /> |
| Former PM Manmohan Singh said yesterday it isn’t possible to double farmers’ income by 2022. "The government says <a href=”https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/not-possible-to-double-farmers-income-by-2022-manmohan-singh/articleshow/62747427.cms”>farmers' income</a> will be doubled by 2022. But it's not possible until the agricultural growth is 12 per cent," he said. When questioned if the budget was reform-oriented, the former PM said the word ‘reform’ has been used and abused too many times.<br /> |
