At least 14 people were killed and several injured in a massive fire at Mumbai’s Kamala Mills compound. The fire at a four-storey building broke out shortly after midnight on the third. A majority of those who died were women attending a birthday party at a rooftop restaurant, police said. The 28-year-old woman celebrating her birthday was among those who died. Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communication received a bail-out of Rs 23,000 crore from brother Mukesh. This comes as a massive relief for Anil’s company which is debt ridden with loans of nearly Rs 45,000 crore, and was facing bankruptcy proceedings. The Lok Sabha yesterday passed the Triple Talaq Bill, which will now go to the Rajya Sabha. The BJP government managed to pass the bill criminalising triple talaq despite a section of the opposition demanding changes in the proposed law and a small minority rejecting the proposed legislation. The bill is likely to face a rough time in the Rajya Sabha, as the BJP government is in a minority in the upper house. The opposition is expected to insist on a review of the bill by a Parliamentary panel.
