One of the newborn twins, who were declared dead by a Delhi hospital, was found alive just before he was about to be cremated. “It is very unfortunate. I have directed the Delhi government to look into the matter and take necessary action,” Health Minister JP Nadda said. The Delhi government has ordered a probe into the incident and sought a preliminary report within three days. According to the family, they were informed by Max Hospital Shalimar Bagh that the babies were stillborn and handed over to them in a polythene bag.

The BJP appeared set for a massive victory in the UP civic polls with the party candidates winning or leading in 14 out of the 16 mayoral seats. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who led the party’s campaign, said that rival Congress was humbled even in the Gandhi family bastion of Amethi and the BJP will now aim for hundred per cent success in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He attributed the victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and BJP chief Amit Shah’s able guidance.
The government is considering three years imprisonment to anyone giving instant triple talaq by making it a cognizable and non-bailable offence. The draft law on triple talaq has been finalised by the Centre and sent to states on Friday for consultation, though it is not binding on the Centre to take concurrence of states on any law passed by both the Houses of Parliament. Former US president Barack Obama met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today. At least 12 people were killed and 32 others injured in a terrorist attack on an agriculture training institute in Pakistan’s Peshawar. The three heavily armed Burqa-clad Taliban militants, who arrived on an auto rickshaw, attacked the students’ hostel of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension on the University Road in the city, the capital of the restive Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. The institute was closed for the Eid-e-Milad holiday, but about 70 students were present in the hostel.
