| Gujarat high court has acquitted former state minister Maya Kodnani in the 2002 Naroda Patiya massacre case. The court acquitted Kodnani giving her a benefit of doubt because none of the 11 witnesses mentioned about her involvement in the case. The court also acquitted 17 others, while convicting three out of 29 persons acquitted by an SIT court in 2012. |

They were bought as bonded labourers from a place called Gangapur on the UP-MP border for Rs 35,000 and kept at a place in Surat district. The woman, a widow, had no source of income to earn her living, ‘agreed to be sold.’ The accused, who bought them, sexually exploited them both. |
