Opposition leaders have submitted a notice for impeachment of CJI Dipak Misra to the vice-president. 64 MPs from seven political parties signed the notice for impeachment proceedings against the Chief Justice Misra. Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said the notice mentions ‘five grounds of misbehaviour’ for the CJI’s impeachment. Read

The Supreme Court has ordered the Centre to seize properties belonging to Dawood Ibrahim. An SC bench dismissed a plea filed by the underworld don’s family against the attachment of his properties in Mumbai. Last November, three south Mumbai properties belonging to the fugitive don were auctioned for Rs 11.58 crore.
Gujarat high court has acquitted former state minister Maya Kodnani in the 2002 Naroda Patiya massacre case. The court acquitted Kodnani giving her a benefit of doubt because none of the 11 witnesses mentioned about her involvement in the case. The court also acquitted 17 others, while convicting three out of 29 persons acquitted by an SIT court in 2012.
